The Vocal Section includes three performance areas:

• Classical Voice
• Musical Theatre
• Choirs

Complete rules, class descriptions, and eligibility requirements for all three areas can be found in the Syllabus below.

Registration is completed through our separate online registration system. Please use the registration link provided in the Registration section below.

Please note: In the event of any discrepancy between the downloadable syllabus and the online registration syllabus, the online registration version will be considered the official and governing document.

CLASSICAL VOICE

Classical Voice is open to singers of all ages and includes ten divisions, including: Canadian Composer, Folk Song, English Art Song, Women Composers, Vocal Duets and Trios and additional classical repertoire classes.

To be eligible for major awards or an adjudicator's recommendation for Provincial Competition, participants aged 22 years and under must enter a minimum of three Classical Voice repertoire classes. One of these selections must be chosen from the appropriate grade level in the RCM or Conservatory Canada syllabus.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre is open to performers of all ages and is divided into four divisions:

1. Musicals Prior to 1965
2. Musicals from 1966–1999
3. Musicals from 2000 to the Present
4. Concert Group

The first three divisions also include opportunities for Duets and Trios.

To be eligible for major awards or an adjudicator's recommendation for Provincial Competition, participants aged 22 years and under must perform one song from each of the first three Musical Theatre divisions.

CHOIRS

We welcome:

• School Choirs
• Community Youth Choirs
• Community Adult Choirs

All choirs are required to perform two contrasting selections. School Choirs and Community Youth Choirs perform in the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre Theatre.
